Wegovy

Description

Wegovy is an injectable medication containing semaglutide, used once weekly in combination with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity for weight management. It is indicated for adults with obesity (BMI ≥30) or overweight (BMI ≥27 to <30) with at least one weight-related health condition such as type 2 diabetes, hypertension, or cardiovascular disease. Wegovy works as a GLP-1 receptor agonist, mimicking a natural hormone to regulate appetite by increasing feelings of fullness, reducing food intake, hunger, and cravings.
The medication is administered as an injection under the skin once per week, with the dose gradually increased over 16 weeks to minimize gastrointestinal side effects. It is intended for long-term weight loss and maintenance and requires a prescription from a healthcare provider. Wegovy should not be used with other semaglutide-containing products or similar GLP-1 receptor agonists.
